The first semifinal was played between Argentina and Croatia.
King Messi’s Argentina storm into the FIFA World Cup Finals, as Argentina won the Semi Finals against Croatia by 3-0. Messi scored in a penalty while Julian Alvarez scored 2 goals, 1 goal from each side.
Semifinal review (Argentina Vs Croatia)
After the initial shock from the Saudis, Argentina rose like a phoenix and there was no looking back since then. The legendary Lionel Messi is now just one match away from taking the cup home, if Argentina wins the finals. It has been Messi’s dream of securing Argentina the FIFA World Cup equaling the feat of another Argentinian legend, Diego Maradona.
Earlier, Enzo Fernandez had shot the ball at the Croatian goal but, Dominic Livakovic saved the straight goal. Croatia made an attempt in the form of Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic but, could not convert it into a goal and Croatia remained goal-less. The Croatian goalkeeper Livakovic has successfully established himself as a penalty specialist as he had saved many penalties shoot out but he had no chance as he faced Messi’s penalty kick. Messi was also declared the man of the match.
Alvarez scored goals in each half to drive Argentina into the finals.
Argentina won the semis 3-0.
Semifinal review (France Vs Morocco)
In the other semifinal, France defeated Morocco, who had hoped to become the only African country to enter the FIFA World Cup finals. France won by 2-0. The goal scorers were Theo Hernandez and Kolo Muani from the French side. Morocco remained goal-less despite a good effort.
France played brilliantly in the semis against Morocco. The defending champions were upbeat during the match, passing the ball accurately and speedily. The first goal came in the form of Theo Hernandez in the 5th minute into the match. Kolo Muani scored the next goal which came in the form of a pass from the French great, Mbappe. The African side was able to deflect shots by the French however they themselves were not able to penetrate the strong French defense. Morocco remained goal-less in the match.
The Moroccans leave the world cup, after the 3rd place playoff, with a rich experience and a power packed performance. The only African country which have come so far in a FIFA world cup.
Antoine Griezmann was declared the man of the match.
France won the semis 2-0.
The playoff for the third position is on 17th December, between Croatia and Morocco.
It is Argentina Vs France in the FIFA 2022 Finals on Sunday.
